WHAT HAVE WE DONE?

Until today, the Augustson family and Lazarus Human Aid has organized, transported and distributed 210 lorries worth of supplies (roughly 3,5 million kg) to disaster areas in Europe and Asia. Aid for a value exceeding 7,5 million euro has been distributed to Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Iraq (Kurdistan), Kosovo, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Romania and Indonesia. Many of these projects have been carried out in cooperation with other aid organizations, including Nada Hope, Save the Children Finland, Médecins du Monde, Mother Teresa and others. In addition, medical and hospital care has also been given to single individuals for a value exceeding1206,000 euro.

The association has approached the chairmen of the different parliamentary groups in Finland, as well as informed a number of EU parliamentarians about refugee issues and the conditions of the Romani population on the Balkans.

Concrete aid projects: In addition to acute aid to war torn areas, a number of larger and smaller aid projects have been carried out. Among these, we should mention the gun wounded Midija and her family in Iraq, the blind girl Susana's eye surgeries (continuing), Mirsada Bradvica's cancer surgery, the boarding school for street children in Lomonosov in Saint Petersburg, Ärkamine safe- and servicehome in Pärnu (Estonia), and two schools doubling as prayer houses that have been built in Chinari and Cipau in Romania. In the city of Sebes and in Tirgu Mures dental care for Romanies have been established. In the village of Cipau, 13 new houses have been built for 26 families, and some ten houses have been repaired. The villages of Chinari and Cipau have also been supplied with suitable wells. Free maternity counceling and medical care have been established in the village of Cipau.
